Over more than two decades, Frank J. Alessio IV has demonstrated a high level of expertise, care, and innovation in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry in and around New York City. He began his career as a waiter at Ground Round and was quickly trained as a bartender, after which he worked at Chow Baby in New Jersey and climbed the ranks through various restaurants. His friend and mentor, Eric Perazio Dakis, who owned South City Grill in Jersey City at the time, offered him a partnership to open a location in Mountain Lakes. Through this enterprise, he then collaborated with Ravi Patel, the owner of Ravel Hotel in Queens, to open two establishments.
Upon serving as the general manager of the Cellar Bar at the Bryant Park Hotel from 2003 to 2006, he has been the founder, owner, and managing partner of Profundo Day Club, the first pool club in the city, at the Ravel Hotel since 2007. Additionally, in that hotel, he built the first rooftop bar in Long Island City, called Penthouse 808. On top of these endeavors, he established a consulting company with a business partner, through which they started Hotel Chantelle in 2010; the three-floor, rooftop night club spot for big and private events on the Lower East Side in Manhattan is active and popular to this day. Among his numerous daily responsibilities across his roles, he oversees full brand development and handles all hiring managers.
Attributing his success to his positive attitude and innovative mindset, Mr. Alessio has always believed in thinking outside the box, being generous, treating people well, and impacting others. He looks at life as being “like climbing a ladder, where one must keep climbing and coming up with new ideas.” As he possesses a highly creative mind, he’s constantly seeking new ways to enhance the guest experience in his establishments. For instance, he’s currently planning an expansion of Hotel Chantelle by buying the building next to it. He strives to either make it a boutique hotel or a condominium; in addition, he wants to build a condo building in the Lower East Side as part of the development of the Profundo hotel brand—which would allow him to share his profits with deserving individuals.
Looking ahead to the future, he is developing a new concept for a cocktail bar below Hotel Chantelle, which would be named Boombox and serve cocktails named after iconic songs.
